Right now, the steps at Town Hall are empty, but at will all change on Saturday as people gather to support and rally Team 26 and their 400 mile bike ride.

"Team 26 is a team of 26 cyclists put together by someone in Newtown, CT. After the Newtown shooting, he felt he needed to do something to bring attention to the problems of gun violence, and to pay honor to all the people that have been killed," said Jonathan Perloe of the Greenwich Council Against Gun Violence.

And now for the third year, the group will hop on their bikes and ride from Newtown to Washington DC to raise awareness for common-sense gun safety laws

"Several are form Sandy Hook and Newtown. There are riders who lost family members at the Virginia Tech shooting," said Perloe.

The rally begins at 12:30 at Greenwich Town Hall and is hosted by the Greenwich Council Against Gun Violence in partnership with The ENOUGH Campaign, the Brady Campaign Southwestern CT Chapter and CT Against Gun Violence.

"One of the things we are doing this year is putting a focus on how gun violence effects mainly women in domestic abuse situations," said Perloe.

The CT Coalition Against Domestic Violence reports that firearms are the most commonly used weapons in domestic homicides in the state. To support Team 26, visit www.sandyhookrideonwashington.com
