Dogs big and small took over McArdle's Florist Thursday evening. The garden center held a fundraiser with a silent auction, wine tasting, and photographer to benefit Adopt-A-Dog.
"I love what Adopt-A-Dog does. I think tonight, this setting is just absolutely beautiful and gorgeous. The lovely auction items are terrific and they all go to help support items that will help Adopt-A-Dog take care of the animals while they're hopefully there just temporarily," said Adopt-A-Dog supporter Celine Stahl.
The money raised goes to helping the shelter maintain a sanctuary lifestyle for the animals.
"We have a staff that's on call from 8:00 am to 8:00 pm. The animals go for walks, they go to the beach. We have exercise yards, we have agility equipment. We make sure our animals are well taken care of so they are ready for a new home," said Adopt-A-Dog president Allyson Halm.
Adopt-A-Dog was founded in 1981 in Greenwich… and both dogs and cats are available for adoption.
"We are 33 years old and still working very hard on helping unwanted animals in our area," Halm said.
"I think it's such a wonderful, wonderful organization. Any opportunity to support them, I'll come out," Stahl said.
