This rainy afternoon in Greenwich has many hoping for summer. Now there is a new place to spend those warm summer days. Cos Cob Park is officially open.

"It's a great location, waterfront park which is highly unusual in this day," said Director of Parks and Rec Joe Siciliano.

The park features a turf field, playground, walking path, and stunning views of the Long Island Sound.

"It's nine acres that have been adaptively reused form a power plant to a park. It will bring families, children, seniors to get out and enjoy nature and activities," said First Selectman Peter Tesei.

"It's good to get to the finish line. It taes a long time to get tot his point and it's worth celebrating," said Mike Doherty of AECOM.

"It's a greta addition to the park  system we have," said Siciliano.

Cos Cob Park will also be home to the future Sept. 11 Memorial.

"Their goal is to have the construction done by the next anniversary in Sept.," said Siciliano.

The park will be open to the public daily.
