This winter has dropped an average of 40 inches of snow on Fairfield Country. Plows have been busy clearing snow from the streets, but the Town's Highway Division wants the streets cleared of cars during bad weather. 28 new streets have been added to the Town's snow emergency street list, including Connecticut Ave. in central Greenwich.

"The Board of Selectman can declare a snow emergency. Once they declare that, it means it's going to be a pretty severe storm and all the streets need to be cleared for emergency purposes, but only when the board declares it. This is more of a safety percussion for everybody involved," said Parking Director Rita Azrelyant.

Snow emergency streets are marked by signs. If you do live on one of these streets, the Town recommends parking in driveways or parking lots.

"You may get plowed if the snow plow needs to get down the street. Depending on how severe the weather is and whether our guys can out, you might get  ticket," said Azrelyant.
