Connecticut lawmakers are heading back to work tomorrow. But first: It’s a celebration for some in Hartford.

Governor Dannel Malloy got officially sworn in today for his second term in office.

He calls it a new chapter for Connecticut:

“A chapter in a story that began long before any of us were here, and one that will continue on long after our contributions end,” said Malloy.

The past four years weren’t without difficulty for the governor.  From the tragedy in Newtown to the countless debates on debt and spending, his first term faced difficult choices with few simple answers.

We also saw monumental moments, like when Connecticut became the first state to raise minimum wage to $10.10 an hour.

“We all want a strong economy that rewards hard work with a fair wage. Where no one who works full time ever has to live in poverty, and where every family can feel economically secure,” said Malloy.

Today began with an inaugural parade at the Hartford Armory. Inauguration events will continue this afternoon at 4 when the Governor delivers his state of the state address.
