The Greenwich boys soccer team clinched a spot in the state tournament after beginning this season down four starters. Two of those starters returned in Friday nights dominating win over New Canaan.

The Cardinals scored four goals in just 15 minutes. Jonathan Aguirre scores here with an assist from Nick Bartles, and then another goal from David Michaud, putting the Cardinals up by six. That's how it will stay and Greenwich beats New Canaan 6-0.

"In that second half after the team talk, we got together and knew we had to get this job done and we could beat them. It was goals galore after that and it was great," said Paul Quiroga, a Greenwich midfielder.

"We got Chris back today, Alejandro came back. Getting those two guys back, they are very technical players, so they allow us to actually get the ball on the ground and move it around," said head coach Kurt Putnam.

"We are able to keep the ball more now, instead of bombing it up and trying o finish. We are holding hte ball and playing more of our style of game," said Bartles.

Now for some girls soccer. Greenwich goalies Emma Barefoot and Kylie Ginsberg had six saves a piece in the loss to St. Joe's.

Here, St. Joe's Lindsey Savko gets one in Greenwich goal making the score 1-0. Jenna Bike of St. Joe's also scored in the 53rd minute, making the score 2-0 and that's how it ends, St. Joe's stays undefeated this season.

Greenwich boys water polo dominated Choate 24-4.

The girls swim team tied with Glastonbury 93-93.

And the Cardinal's football team won its second game of the season, beating Norwalk 14-7.

Next week, catch volleyball, swimming, and soccer scores.
