After 30 years with the Greenwich Fire Department Richard Funck was promoted. He is leaving his "kids", as he likes to call them, to move on to Deputy Fire Marshal.
"We do fore inspections, we do fire investigations. The whole point of this job is preservation of life and property, like inspecting these buildings and making sure you don't have fires so you don't really have to respond to bad situations," said Funck.
The "kids" he refers to have been his coworkers for the past two years.
"I really appreciate working with those guys. They are very good. They took care of me, I took care of them, and that's what this job is all about really," said Funck.
Bill Richardson was promoted to Lieutenant to replace Funck. Richardson said that working together is an important part of the job.
"They are a great, great group of guys," said Richardson.
Richardson is a 14 year veteran who will now work in the training division.
