Remediation work is well underway here on the South Side of Greenwich high school where bulldozers, fences, and hard hats have replaced the usual summer scene.

Some phases of the Remedial Action Plan are already complete. There is contractor access from Route One and vegetation has been removed in areas where soil will be excavated and replaced.

In several areas, the excavating of impacted soil is complete, and labor crews are now testing the remaining soil to ensure safety.

New soil will be brought in once testing is completed to ensure all contaminated soil has been removed.

The Town anticipates that work will wrap up for the summer by August 18 to allow fall sports and school activities to resume as normal.
