13 might become Sharon Vos' lucky number. The 60-year-old Greenwich resident ran in her 13th Boston Marathon this year, coming in first for her age group, and she isn't slowing down any time soon.

"30 years ago, I didn't know I was going to run to any extent. If somebody would have told me I was going to be a competitive runner, I would have probably laughed," said Vos.

Vos won the women's 60-64 age group during the Boston Marathon on April 20th. She won her division with a time of 3:12:51.

Sharon Vos began participating in marathons in 1985. Her first, the 1985 New York City Marathon. This year's 119th running of the Boston Marathon was Sharon's 44th race. She has run the New York City Marathon 13 times as well.

"I keep thinking every time I go 'oh you know I'm just going to do it again. It's not a big deal'. But because it is such a special marathon, you just can't help but get caught up in the excitment of the fact that it is Boston," said Vos. "It's interesting of course going back this year because we have the trial going on so there is a lot of emotion again."

Vos was supposed to run during the 2013 Boston Marathon but did not attend because she qualified for another race in London and decided to compete in that instead.

When she's not training for marathons, Vos is one of the coaches for the Greenwich Track Club.

"I was immediately drawn to it. I love kids. It's fun! Sometimes it's the kids that maybe need a little bit of coaxing and coaching to get going that really end up loving it the most and that is rewarding," said Vos.

And she has some advice for people who say they could never run a marathon.

"You are never too old, you are never too slow and it is never too late. And never say never," said Vos.

Sharon will run in her 45th marathon in Berlin, Germany in September before participating in the 2015 New York City Marathon in November.
