20 Greenwich students hit the runway in the lastest Spring/Summer fashions to raise funds for the Breast Cancer Alliance.

"It is terrific to get the younger children involved, especially high school students because they are really engaged in community service. We have so many of them who are really committed breast cancer as a cuase," said Mary Jeffery, a member of the BCA Board.

The teens are part of the Alliances Jr. Committee, representing 9 Greenwich schools.

"It think it is kind of being a part of the next generation of people showing so many more people this great cause," said Alex Montinaro, President of the BCA Jr. Committee at Brunswick School. "In one way or another, almost everybody has been effected by it [breast cancer]. I know I was effected. One of my closest teachers in the 4th grade had breast cancer and that inspired me to get involved from a young age."

"I think it is important for younger generations to get involved sooner rather than later because it will hopefully spark their desire to continue raising awareness in the future," said Emma Church, President of the BCA Jr. Committee at Convent of the Sacred Heart.

Funds raised by the junior committee go to breast health services for underserved women throughout the State.

"Hearing the stories of people effected and sometimes when we are at meeting, we talk about people who have suffered from breast cancer and have lost the battle and it shows you that, this is why we are here. We are trying to save the lives of the people who are stuggling right now and try to prevent it," said Church.
