April 6 through the 10th marks the Week of the Young Child, Sponsored by the National Association for the Education of Young Children (NAEYC). This celebration of the youngest children in the community puts the spotlight on preschool programs and the services they provide for families.

"It is important to remember that there is a lot of brain development that happens during this age. It is critical and crucial that they have a high quality education before heading to kindergarden," said Megan Sweeney, the Director of Early Care and Education at Family Centers.

Family Centers in Greenwich is celebrating this week with a parade down Greenwich Avenue.

"We are having a lot of fun celebrating our young children," said Sweeney.

"I like to play with Legos."

"I like when we all play together."

Family Centers provides preschool options for a wide variety of income levels.

"We have state funded slots throughout our center. We serve infants and toddlers, and three and four year olds," said Sweeney.

Megan Sweeney of Family Centers says parents have a lot to think about when picking a preschool.

"They want to see happy and engaged kids, happy parents, a center that is responsive to children, and is welcoming, and encourages them to be part of the community," said Sweeney,

But for today, it's all about the kids having some fun.
