It's National Volunteer Week, and to help celebrate here in Greenwich, Family Centers hosted a breakfast to recognize the amazing efforts of their many volunteers.
"I look at what Family Centers does every day of the year and I know that we couldn't do half of what we do without all of the wonderful volunteers who come and give of themselves and their time, you give us the spirit and the energy that just propels the work we do," said Bob Arnold, President and CEO of Family Centers.
"Last year 2,200 volunteers came in and out of the doors at Family Centers and that is just an astronomical number, it goes up every year and we are so blessed in this organization to have everybody donating their time, everybody from corporate groups to individuals to students, it's just amazing," said Jennifer Flatow, Director of Community Engagement at Family Centers.
Dozens of volunteers from all different volunteer programs gathered at the breakfast. And to honor these efforts, First Selectmen Peter Tesei presented a special proclamation.
"We are truly blessed in Greenwich to be a community of volunteers, when you look at all of the various organizations that provide services to people in need you realize the abundance of talent we have contributing to their well-being and that's one of the characteristics that makes Greenwich a community that is envied by others," said First Selectman Peter Tesei.
