Who says it needs to be warm and sunny to go for a swim? On February 23rd Family Centers will host the 3rd annual polar bear plunge.

"People basically strip down to their bathing suits in the freezing cold and run as fast as you can into the water and get out as quickly as you can and get a towel," said Bill Brucker, Communications Director at Family Centers. "It's all for a good cause, all the money that is raised goes to our programs that help families that are dealing with some sort of crisis or life altering circumstance."

Organized by Family Center's Associate Board, the organization aims to attract the younger generation who can help out a cause in an extreme way.

"People of the younger generation, 20s and 30s, are looking to do something on the extreme side of things and there's nothing more extreme than jumping in sub-zero water," said Brucker.

So get freezin' for a reason and check it off your bucket list. The dip in the sound will take place at 11 a.m. at the offices of Geneve Holdings at 96 Cummings Point Rd. in Stamford. To register or to sponsor an individual plunger, visit FamilyCenters.org.
